A bit about me…

I’m Stephanie Cook! Also known as Cookie ☺

I live in Sydney, just on the outskirts of the Inner-West. I consider myself a very outdoorsy kind of girl, one who loves getting out in the sun and walking barefoot on the grass, but who also loves spending hours in the studio listening to 80’s & 90’s tunes!

It is my love and admiration of nature that directs and inspires me in all ways creative. Nature reminds me of our divine connection with God and how we are all inter-connected, and can be even more so through (the act of creating and viewing) art. 

I create bold contemporary and abstract paintings by using simple shapes combined with bright and vibrant colours. My creative process involves both a design and planning element along with room to express and create intuitively. I mostly work with heavy bodied acrylic paints, but I do love mixing mediums from time to time and adding small bits of texture throughout my works. 

I have always enjoyed art since I was a kid, but as life happens, I stopped for many years (pretty much all of my adult life since I finished school) and only in 2023 made a conscious decision (after jumping out of a plane, which is a story for another time) to take the leap to pursue my passion and follow my heart. My goal is to share my art with the world, hopefully inspiring in others what nature does for me, to create.
